Career Opportunities

Positions filled at the ALPLM require obtaining an eligibility grade from the Department of Central Management Services (CMS). To obtain a qualifying grade, some titles require written testing, but with others it is only necessary to submit an application which will be graded based on experience and education.  Information regarding applying for employment can be found at the CMS web site:  http://www.state.il.us/cms/1_employ/

After establishing eligibility, your name is placed on an eligible list for a period of one year and referred out to employing agencies for appointment consideration at their request.  It should be noted that the Illinois Supreme Court rendered a decision that gives members of the armed forces of the United States absolute preference in all positions where the appointment is made from the eligible list.

While it is difficult to predict when specific vacancies will occur, the first step in any hiring process is to obtain qualifying grades for the job title.
