Looking For Lincoln Block Party Schedule
Several Days of Events Will Precede the Opening of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum


SPRINGFIELD, IL., - Museum officials today announced the Looking for Lincoln Block Party schedule featuring music, theater troupes, choirs, folk dancers, and artists from across the country. The Looking for Lincoln Block Party will precede the April 19 opening of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.

"Downtown Springfield will come to life during this unprecedented event that includes historical re-enactments, performances and music, from the Lincoln Home neighborhood and the Old State Capitol to the Presidential Museum area," said event organizer Phil Funkenbusch. "This wonderful two-day family block party reminds us what the Presidential Museum is all about, bringing history to people of all ages."

The Block Party, which is free and open to the public, will include outdoor and indoor events from Saturday, April 16 until Sunday, April 17, rain or shine. Block Party visitors may also tour the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the regular admission price of $7.50 for adults; $5.50 for senior citizens 62 and over, students and members of the U.S. military; and $3.50 for children ages 5 ‚ 15.

OLD STATE CAPITOL GROUNDS

The Old State Capitol Grounds will showcase nineteenth-century period artisans and Civil War groups throughout the day. The Culinary Court will feature cuisine from Springfield area restaurants along Washington Street between 5th and 6th Streets. Folk art sculptures from Taylorville will be on display just across the street at 210 S. Sixth Street. The Lincoln Railsplitter's Association will be holding demonstrations throughout the day along 6th Street.
