SPRINGFIELD IL — The acclaimed new drama "One Destiny" will continue at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum with performances during July.
The play is staged in the museum's Union Theatre, and tickets are free with paid museum admission. The show will be performed at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 3; Monday, July 6; Friday, July 10; Tuesday, July 22; Saturday, July 25; Monday, July 27; Wednesday, July 29; and Friday, July 31. In addition, two performances will be scheduled, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4; and Friday, July 17.
Richard Hellesen's play, which originated at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC, takes place in the days after the assassination of President Lincoln in April 1865. Harry Hawk – the actor who was performing onstage when the president was shot – revisits the night of April 14 with Harry Ford, the theatre's manager. Two actors, Terry Jones and Ed MacMurdo, play several characters during the course of the 35-minute performance.
