Tickets available for two Lincoln presentations by renowned authors
"A. Lincoln: A Biography" September 21 and "Lincoln as
Commander in Chief" September 25
SPRINGFIELD - The author of the new bestselling A Lincoln: A Biography will hold a book discussion and signing Monday, September 21 at 7 p.m. in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library’s Multi-Purpose Room, while a renowned military author will present "Lincoln as Commander in Chief" at 7 p.m. Friday, September 25 in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum’s Union Theater. Reservations are required for both events, and may be made by calling (217) 558-8934.
Ronald C. White, Jr. is the author of A. Lincoln: A Biography, which is a New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times bestseller. His September 21 program is free, but advance reservations are required and may be made by calling (217) 558-8934. White is also the author of Lincoln’s Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural, a New York Times Notable Book of 2002 and a Washington Post and San Francisco Chronicle bestseller; and The Eloquent President: A Portrait of Lincoln Through His Words, a Los Angeles Times bestseller and a selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club and the History Book Club. White has lectured at the White House and been interviewed on the News Hour with Jim Lehrer.
Col. Cole C. Kingseed will present the September 25 program, "Lincoln as Commander in Chief." Paid reservations are required for this Jim Edgar Lecture Series event, and may be made by calling (217) 558-8934. Kingseed is the author of the New York Times bestseller Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memoirs of Major Dick Winters, a personal history of the men from Easy Company of the 101st Airborne Division whose battle exploits were featured in the television miniseries, "Band of Brothers." Kingseed has also written From Omaha Beach to Dawson’s Ridge: The Combat Journal of Captain Joe Dawson (2005); Old Glory Stories: American Combat Leadership in World War II (2006); The American Civil War (2004); and Eisenhower and the Suez Crisis of 1956 (1995). Kingseed’s 30-year military career included commands at the platoon, company and battalion level, culminating in his tenure as chief of military history at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The September 25 "Lincoln as Commander in Chief" presentation is the latest in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation’s Jim Edgar Lecture Series. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for veterans, and $5 for students. Foundation members at the Circuit Rider level and above are entitled to two complimentary tickets to the annual Jim Edgar Lecture.
