What is the Taper Collection?
To ensure that these priceless artifacts
remain together as a collection and are
preserved in perpetuity for the benefit of the
public, the Permanent Home Campaign
was launched. This ambitious undertaking
is designed to eliminate the debt incurred in
the purchase of this important collection.
The overriding goal, on which this bold
initiative is focused, is achieving the certainty
that the more than 1,500 prized
Lincoln artifacts and documents meticulously
researched, authenticated, and
assembled, through the efforts of Louise
Taper, will forever remain together, con
served, and accessible to the general
public.
Our Lincoln Curator, Dr. James Cornelius,
has helped bring these artifacts to life by
honing in on the emotional stories. The
artifacts tell a story that allows everyone the
opportunity to get to know our 16th President
| How can you help?
Beginning in February 2011, the Abraham
Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation will
present a featured artifact of the month.
This will continue for one year and area
businesses, organizations and individuals
are invited to get involved by sponsoring a
select month. We would encourage you to
support the Foundation's mission to protect
these priceless artifacts so that the millions
of visitors who come to the Library and
Museum can continue to be inspired by the
greatest collection of Lincoln items in the
world!
